Random pictures and such

I have been a bit busy with work and such so I haven’t had much time to update the blog. Here are a few pictures of the area and what I have been doing.

Nome from the Air. As you can see, the ice is out. It is getting warm again.

And they say that Nome is flat..... These are the Kigluiak mountains to the west of town. We flew though the pass just the other day.

Sunset from the plane. This is over Russia. If the sun was not in the center, you could see the Diomedes.

Same night, sunset over St. Lawerence Island. The bottom is clouds, not ocean.

Sunset from the air.

This is a picture of the Russian coast. On a clear day, we are within 30 miles of Russia. If we go to Little Diomede, we are 1.5 miles from Russia.

Sunset over the Kigluiaks from Nome.

The snake river. This is out of town about 20 minutes. We fish out here.

Kevin (one of the pilots) yurt. I plan on spending a TON of time out here this summer.

Sunset on the Nome river. We were out fishing at 1am the other night. Sunset was around 130 am.

Same river, just a bit later in the morning.

Again, the same river.

I loved the color in the river on this one. The camera just does not do the colors justice.

My first Nome catch. I wonder what Rock soup tastes like....

Allen with a Dolly Varden. They are like brooke trout. This was the first and the smallest one that was caught.

2 mooses out by the yurt. These are the first moose I have ever seen in the wild.

Every year they do a triathlon here in town. This is me getting ready for the swim. They call it the stroke and croke.

The run of the race. It was 4 miles on the only highway in town.

The finish of the bike. We finished at the rec. center.

One of my 2 teams for the race. Everyone needed a swimmer so I swam for 2 teams and compleated the whole race myself. It was a 1600 meter swim, 4.2 mile run and 8 mile off road bike. I finished 7th over all, 3rd for the girls. Not bad for not training.

When ever I need a dog fix, this is the one I go to. His name is Remmy and I love the fact that he loads up on the 4 wheeler. Remmy belongs to one of the nurses, Bridgett and here husband Scotty.
